Introducing the next contributor to The Peak, Cascade Collegiate League Manager Eric del Prado. Eric graduated in 2018 with a B.S. in Economics after a phenomenal four year playing career with Willamette University. Del Prado earned 2nd Team All-NWC 1B honors in 2016 and an Honorable Mention in 2018. Across his entire career, del Prado amassed 156 hits, including 46 for extra-bases. He collected 122 RBI and homered 13 times while maintaining a .302 career batting average. He currently serves as the Hitting Coach for Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR.
First of all, thank you for reading this post, I hope you are able to find some value from it. The goal of this series is to create positive discussion regarding something I am passionate about, hitting. I feel very thankful to have gotten my start into coaching during the “Hitting Twitter” era. I am able to follow many very talented coaches across the country and learn from them. I also feel very lucky to have played for and taken lessons from some very good coaches who are widely respected in the baseball industry as a whole. Many of my thoughts in this series will come from things learned from them.
I am going to start this series by stating what I think should be the goal of hitting. I believe when a swing is perfectly on time, a hitter should hit the ball as far as they can, in the air. However, if they are NOT perfectly on time the swing should still produce a batted ball that is well hit for that player.
